These cat-themed music games will get your students smiling and giggling as they practice various music theory skills - they won’t want their lessons to end!
“Cat Party”
Players race around the board by identifying note values, hoping to be the first to reach each corner to collect an item to take to the cat party.
BUT to collect each item, players must complete a musical challenge - sight reading, note reading, or identifying a rhythm.
Who will be the first to reach the cat party with all their items?
The challenges can be swapped out for playing through their piece - ideal for lessons leading up to a performance.
This game is also perfect for when there’s a birthday in your studio.
“Cat Pizzeria”
This is a fun rhythm game with a few variations.
One way to play is a Bingo-style game, with pizza topping calling cards being read out and players seeing if they have a notated rhythm that matches the rhythm of the food.
Alternatively, players can create their own pizza toppings by using the blank cards.
“Cats in Hats”
This is a variation of a firm favourite of students and teachers worldwide!
Players put their note-reading skills to the test in order to dress each cat up in their correct hat.
With piano key cats, treble clef cats, and bass clef cats, this game can be played with a variety of ages and abilities.
“Pirate Cats”
This is a competitive racing game where players take turns identifying the interval on the question card and moving that number of spaces on the board.
(e.g., if the two notes are a 5th apart, move five spaces)
HOWEVER, the board is full of different graphics - some good, some…not so good!
